How has your perception of the internship/organization changed since you started the internship?

- From when I started my internship at CHOA I did to expect to be able to work with patients. I thought I would have organized papers or observed form the observation rooms. My first day when I actually got to interact with a little girl, I knew this was a perfect opportunity for me. I now know most of the patients I see and I always look for ways to make the appointment fun for them based on their personalities.

What is surprising you about this internship?

- This internship surprises me every time I am there because there are so many different kids with unique diagnoses. The experience working with kids and seeing them later on progressing so much is my favorite part of mentoring there. What surprises me is that CHOA allows high school kids to participate in such a unique opportunity, and I am so lucky to be a part of it.

In what ways do you feel like you can improve your performance?

- I can most definitely improve in being able to find someone to mentor if my mentor is not working that day. If my mentor is not there, I look around in the gyms to look for someone to mentor. I can usually find someone with a patient, but if I can't it is hard for me to find something to do. Therefore I need to get better at finding things to do when my mentor is not there.
